Youth Ministry must be Relational -

  • Youth Workers must have a relationship with Christ.
  • Youth Workers must have a relationship with the youth & their families.
  • Youth Workers must find the time to find & meet the needs of the youth.

Benefits is that the youth and the workers are able to develop a close relationship.

Warning is that you must be careful not to be so close that it creates a closed group that does not welcome newcomers.

Youth Ministry must be tough -

  •  Tough times come in every ministry, and when those times come, many will leave, but the committed workers and youth will  stick together through the tough times.

  •  Resilience & Commitment creates a solid framework for youth ministry

Youth Ministry should care more for people than for performance-

  •  Youth Workers should never demand polished programs and precise publicity.

  •  Youth Ministry encourages the importance that all kids are included and relationships with Christ and their fellow Christians are formed.

Youth Ministry should provide a place for everyone-

  • No child should ever be made to feel left out, or excluded.

  • Youth workers are responsible for helping to direct every child to some part of the ministry that they can fit into.

Youth Ministry must have Vision-

  • Vital considerations for Vision in youth ministry are:

    • Prayer and seeking guidance from the Lord.

    • Developing a mission statement - which helps to give the ministry a clear focus and understanding of your purpose.

    • Set goals and objectives that build on your mission statement.

    • One Key point of effectively implementing a vision is that you must use the blueprint that fits the needs of YOUR Youth.

Youth ministry must have a solid foundation -

  • Love - Everyone is not "Called to Love" Youth.

  • Involvement - Youth Ministry cannot grow with workers who are not sincerely involved in the work of the ministry.

  • Fellowship - In fellowship, we grow stronger together. Workers must take the time to know one another as well as the youth they are involved with.

  • Education - Take the time for Christian Education. Study the word of God so that you are always prepared to give Godly answer to any situation.
